Community & Sponsorship

As a family-owned South Island business, Kaans supports a select number of community partnerships in the regions we serve. We focus on initiatives with a clear local benefit and a strong connection to food, hospitality or community wellbeing. Our support is planned and limited, with priority given to established partnerships and opportunities that closely align with our business, customers and values.

What We Consider

Kaans considers a limited number of sponsorship and community-support requests each year. Priority is generally given to:
  • Initiatives operating within the regions we service
  • Projects with a clear and measurable local community benefit
  • Food, hospitality and industry-related initiatives
  • Established community organisations and registered charities
  • Opportunities that align with our customers, people and business values
  • Partnerships that provide an appropriate and practical way for Kaans to contribute
Support may take the form of products, vouchers, promotional assistance or financial sponsorship, depending on the request and available resources. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee approval, and all support remains subject to available budgets and existing commitments.

Requests We Generally Don’t Support

To ensure our community support is focused and managed fairly, Kaans generally does not support:
  • Requests from individuals or for personal expenses
  • Political campaigns or activities primarily promoting political or religious views
  • Commercial ventures primarily benefiting an individual or private business
  • Overseas travel, tours or personal development costs
  • Requests outside the regions Kaans services
  • Retrospective requests for events, purchases or activities that have already occurred
  • Requests received less than six weeks before support is required
  • Incomplete applications or requests without a clear purpose and community benefit
  • Multiple requests from the same organisation within a 12-month period
Kaans reserves the right to decline any request and may make exceptions where an opportunity strongly aligns with our community priorities.

How to Request Support

If your organisation and request meet the criteria above, please complete our Community and Sponsorship Request Form at least six weeks before support is required.
You will need to provide:
  • Organisation name and contact details
  • Whether your organisation is an existing Kaans customer
  • Event or initiative name, date and location
  • A clear description of the activity and its purpose
  • The type and value of support requested
  • Who will benefit and the expected community impact
  • Any recognition or involvement being offered to Kaans
  • The date by which a decision or support is required
  • Any supporting proposal, budget or event information
Requests are assessed against our community priorities, available budget, timing and existing commitments. Submitting a request does not guarantee support. We will contact you if further information is required or once a decision has been made.
